Blogs hosted at the Department of Information Technology

Blogs - and Web 2.0 in general - are becoming more and more important in the scientific community, see also this month's theme on Computing Now. Recently, I've realized that a couple of blogs are hosted at (or related to) our department which are worth to write about:

• The Multimedia Communication research group is blogging their publications which is also used to generate an overview page from the RSS feed of this blog. You may also follow them on Twitter.
  
• The Web site of the MPEG Extensible Middleware (MXM) is actually hosted at our department although the URL suggests something else. It is realized as a blog just as the next one...
  
• The 3rd Workshop on Many Faces of Multimedia Semantics is simply a blog but it fully serves the purpose. Interestingly, it hast the same theme as the MXM site ;-)
• I'm not sure whether Semantic Metadata - a blog of a colleague of mine - is hosted at our department but for sure it is related ...
• Finally, our department now starts using blogs for their projects such as Self Organizing Multimedia Architectures (SOMA).

Have I missed anything? Hope not ...

If you ask me why we're doing so, the answer is very easy because Wordpress blogs are easy to install, maintain, and it's trivial to fill it with content. Furthermore, there are so many themes and plug-ins available for almost every purpose.
